As the producers of teak and certificated seed we offer different options to elect:
- Seed without membrane – This seed receives only a mechanic processing to separate the exterior membrane. Subsequently it is selected by size and morphology. Continued it is stored with all the necessary requirements. This product is of a smaller price since does not pass for the process of “scarification”, for which its percentage and time of germination is slightly lower and its time of germination is slightly upper. Always maintaining its quality. We recommend to use it in those projects where the interim of the periods of sowing are over the 3 months, since it bears long interim of storage.
- Scarified seed– The scarification consists of a mechanic process through which the cork that covers the embryo is eliminated, which when is exposed in small areas accelerates the process of germination. The price is superior compared to the seed without this process. This seed is of generalized use. Also, in some cases of long periods of storage, it’s necessary the use of special installations to maintain a low temperature regulated.
- Each sale of product, it’s accompanied by the identification of the National Office of Seeds, regulating organ in the production of all the commercial seeds. They are also accompanied by the documents were it’s specified the lot number, germination percentage, percentage of impurity, as a certificate of origin and all the phytosanitary requirements. Pamphlets of the management of the seed are included for an optimizes germination of the product.
Advantages of scarified seeds :
- Less weight and transportation volume, which decreases the costs, both in seed (60%) an transportation (70%).
- Has a higher percentage of germination.
- The Scarified seed produces more homogeny plantations.
- Can be stored larger periods of time.
- Is a seed authorized an certified by the National Seeds Office of Costa Rica.
